It Was a Great Big Hunt.

Omaha Gun Club Men Return From Looking for Game.

Not a Very Extensive Haul.

Captain Brewer's Side Victorious and Parmelee will Furnish the Banquet—Lefever Hunters Start.

The Grand Fall Hunt.

The grand fall hunt of the Omaha Gun club came off Thursday, and so far as the hunting was concerned, it was a colossal success. In fact the emulous Nimrods found the hunting good everywhere, but the game scarce. The count on either side on this momentous occasion is not more than one-third that of last year, and there are many disappointed gunners in the city. As has been repeatedly stated the object of this great annual inroad on the furred and feathered game is a grand banquet, which is to be given at the Millard this evening, the losing side defraying the expenses thereof. One of the most conspicuous features of the present hunt is that the amateurs fairly wiped up the earth with the professionals, i.e., the tyros with the gun beat the old experienced hunters out of sight as the following record, giving the game killed and count agreed on, clearly proves:

Captain Brewer's Side.

John Hardin and Dr. Worley—Wilson snipe, 145, 435; tiltup, 1, 1; clapper rail, 1, 4; pinnated grouse, 3, 13; hawks, 2, 20; mallards, 6, 42; widgeon, 1, 5; making a total count of 535.

George S. Smith-Teal, 9, 36; snipe, 12, 36; widgeon, 2, 20; large yellow legs, 2, 6; lesser yellow legs, 5, 5; killdeer, 1, 1; mallards, 7, 49; total, 143.

Gust Icken—Widgeon, 3, 15; snipe, 11, 33; killdeer, 5, 5; hawks, 1, 10; mallards, 2, 14; teal, 5, 20; sora rail, 1, 5; total, 99.

J. Field—Geese, 2, 20; grouse, 2, 12; total, 32.

William Brewer, John Thompson and Tom Cotter—Geese, 1, 10; scaup, 2, 20; bufflehead, 1, 7; widgeon, 1, 5; teal, 2, 12; coon, 2, 30; hawks, 2, 30; snipe, 6, 18; large yellow legs, 2, 3; tiltup, 1, 1; plover, 2, 6; quail, 1, 3; cormorant, 1, 10; total, 139.

This made the total for Brewer's side, 948.

Captain Parmelee's Side.

H. Kennedy and W. Clarke—Geese, 2, 20; scaup, 5, 25; quail, 1, 3; teal, 2, 8; rufflehead, 6, 24; spoonbills, 1, 4; redheads, 3, 18; mallard, 1, 7; total 109.

H.C. Kellogg—Hawk, 1, 10; snipe, 2, 6; teal, 1, 4; total 20.

H.A. Penrose—Geese, 10, 100; grouse, 14, 56; total 156.

John Petty and W.H. Hughes—Mallards, 70, 420; redheads, 4, 24; teal, 2, 6; total 450.

This made the total for Parmelee's side 735, the Brewer men thus winning by 213 points. Mr. Parmelee, with his "man with the Zulu," and the rest of his merry men will experience the extreme felicity of liquidating for about fifty "plates" this evening at $4 per plate.
